I've just joined, and thought I'd start off by telling you about when I got my ears pierced.
I was actually a really late starter, as I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 25. When I was younger, I went through phases of maybe wanting to get them done, and then being sure I didn't ever want to. And, every so often, my friends would try to talk me into getting them done - or even offering to do them for me with a sewing needle and icecube! But I always resisted stuff like that, and never did get them done while I was at school.
But, a couple of years ago, I turned 25, and started to think a bit more about finally having them done. Eventually, after a couple of months of indecision, I decided that I definitely was going to get them done at long last. Where I have my hair done, they also do ear piercing, so the next time I was there to have my hair done, I asked them to do my ears as well. So, after she'd done my hair, the girl I always see there got all the stuff out ready to pierce my ears. As she got the gun out, I started to feel a bit nervous, but I was determined to go through with it.
First, she showed me the card with all the different styles of studs on it, and I picked out a pair of gold ones with clear jewels in them, because I thought that the plain gold ones were a bit boring, and I wanted something that would match different outfits. Then she clipped my hair back out of the way and cleaned my earlobes. The first time she marked the positions of the holes, I wasn't entirely happy with the position of the right one, so I had her re-do it, and that looked a lot better.
As I watched her load the gun, I started to feel really nervous. She did my left ear first and, as I felt the gun start to grip my earlobe, I could feel my heart starting to pound a bit. She asked me if I was OK, and I said "yes" before biting my lip in anticipation of the pain I was expecting. The sudden 'snap' of the gun made me jump, but there wasn't really any pain, and then my ear started to burn a bit. I felt her pull the gun away, releasing the butterfly clip from the back, and I couldn't help reaching up to feel my burning lobe. It felt so odd to touch my earlobe and feel the stud sat there on it. And then when I put my thumb behind my lobe, felt the end of the post there, and realised that it went right the way through my lobe in a hole that wasn't there a few seconds earlier was such an amazing thought. While I was doing all this, the girl was reloading the gun ready to do my right ear. Having asked me if I was still OK, she did that one too, before taking the clips out of my hair and giving me all the aftercare stuff.
Walking down the street afterwards, I couldn't stop feeling and playing with the studs, and kept thinking how I wished I'd had them done earlier.
And what did my friends think when they saw I'd finally had them done? Well, because I've got long hair, which I always wear down, it took them all a while to notice. But when they did, their usual reaction was a very positive "Oh my God - You've had your ears pierced!!!"
So am I glad that I got them done? Yes, definitely - In fact, I wish I hadn't been such a chicken and had got them done a lot earlier!!!
Thank you, Sandi, of your confessions concerning the moments during your piercings of the ear lobes. Your confidence is affecting. Be the welcome in the group of the hoop earrings fetish!

So how long after getting them pierced did you decide to start wearing hoops?
I was actually a good girl, and just wore small studs or sleepers for the first four months. It was after that when I started to get a bit more adventurous with some small dangles and small hoops. As I got more confident with them and more used to the feeling of them moving about, they seemed to get bigger and bigger. Now, I wear hoops most of the time, up to about three inches diameter.
Must have felt like quite the drastic change, to go from no earrings to big hoops in such a relatively short time. So I'm curious, what lead you towards wearing large hoops? Was it something you'd wanted to do before they were pierced and helped push you towards that decision? Or was it something that evolved afterwards, such as the feeling of having dangles/hoops swinging from your lobes that made you want to experience larger ones?
Sorry for the long delay - been a bit busy with life!

Yeah, it did feel a bit strange to start with, but I soon got used to it, and started to love the feeling of them swinging from and tugging on my earlobes.
And why big hoops? Yeah, I did kind of like the look of them before I had my ears pierced. I even experimented a little with some of those spring-loaded clip-on hoops, and liked the look of how they poked out from beneath my long hair. But another reason was encouragement from my husband. Although he was quite surprised when I first got my ears pierced, he really loved it when he first saw me wearing hoops - and you wouldn't believe the sex we had that night!!!!! He loves when I wear them and always tells me that they make me look really sexy.
