I've always known that people like hoop earrings, but it wasn't until i came across this site that i realized how much people loved them!!
I just though I'd write a short story on some of the occasions my hoops have been commented on.
I have always worn hoops when i go out, to the shops, work, bars & clubs etc and i have had quite a few comments on my hoops.
I remember being in a pub with a few of my friends, casually chatting putting the world to rights over a few glasses of wine, when a group of men though they might try their luck and approach us. As it turned out they were very pleasant and friendly. One guy was chatting to me asking "do you come here often" what to do as a job etc, (the usual!!) we were having a conversation when i flicked my hair back away from my face and exposed my hoops, they guy then sort of stepped back and said "wow what a lovely set of hoop earrings your wearing", thank you was my reply. The conversation then turned to ear wear, in particular hoops. I was wearing a medium to large pair of white gold hoops in my first holes and a smaller pair the same in my second holes. I could see that he liked them. He did admit to loving the look of hoops on a pretty lady and we had such a chat about it.
It doesn't happen often but you do get guys commenting on your hoops!
Another day, i was in the local super market stocking up on food and approached the till ready to pay for all the goods. The server was a lady probably in her late 40's, i had my hair up in a ponytail and was wearing 3 large sized hoops in my ears, chit-chat occurred as my items were bing scanned, " i love the way you wear those earrings" she said to me. "oh thank you" i replied, we then briefly continued the conversation as i way packing away the food. She said she has worn large earring in her younger days and loved the way they felt and looked. I asked her why she did not still wear large hoops. the reply was "I'm too old for that".. "Never" i said, since when has there been an age limit on wearing hoop earrings. She though about it and then stated your right, I'm going to buy some large hoop earrings like yours!!.. a laughed, go for it i said. "i think i will only wear one pair, as i don't have enough holes to wear more" she did say that my 3 pairs of large hoops did look good on me! I thanked her for her comments, wished her a good day off i went.
I will post some more stories and articles when i have time, but just to summarize, i have found men and women, old and young do like and appreciate the hoop! Its always nice for a girl to get commented on how good she looks, even they are referring to your ears!!
